Yes, the economy has been difficult for Rose Buds. But it has also provided the challenge to be creative in how to make ends meet. So, in view of that, we have brought in a friend as a booth holder in Rose Buds. She has brought in great stuff. Come see it. We are also just beginning to figure out how to market Deedee's wonderful art work at wholesale prices. We pray constantly for God's guidance.........as for now, we think He's not done using Rose Buds. Seeing all of you makes us smile and brings us joy. Thanks for being here these 21/2 years. And remember, when shopping for a gift or a treasure, check your Longmont Hot Spots. It'll be worth it, I promise.
Deedee and I are much like you. Wives. Mothers. Workers. Friends. Bosses. Children. We have had quite the year. The same God who began us on this journey has carried us through many things. From family pains and crises to the economy going south, we have been carried lovingly and gently by our Lord. ..We are growing and really enjoying business as it changes. The highpoints of Rose Buds are definitely the groups that have bonded here......the people who have gathered and made friends. We have met literally hundreds of people and have had fun watching as they get to know one another. So, today, I just want to thank each and every one of you for your support and for being our friends. You make each day more special!! I'm looking forward to seeing what yet another year will bring. All I know for certain is that God is good. Somehow, that's enough. But, if plans go right, this next year will include lots of art. And lots of really great furniture. And, our personal favorite........local creations. We adore those one of a kind pieces that our artisans provide. They give Rose Buds its very own character. We adore our ART DIVAS. Have a happy autumn!
Thirteen years ago, Deedee and Rhonda were mothers of 7 small children altogether. There was no place to go for a cup of coffee or to relax and shop. They often spoke of how nice it would be to have a kid friendly, comfortable place to spend a morning. Time went by and each of them had one more child, bringing the total to 9. The dream of a place continued, but was definitely on the back burner due to the sheer time consuming lives of raising their kids. But then, in 2005, a friend asked the ladies to make cabbage rose pillows for her to sell at the Old Glory Fair. The ladies decided to take the challenge and set a goal of making 100 pillows in about three months time. Of course, they procrastinated, so they made most of them in the last month! But the sales were a huge success and they were encouraged to go out on their own. In short order, they were asked to have a booth at a local antique shop. The pillows didn't sell much at all.............but the girls developed and refined a love of chic antiques. The girly side of antiques became their passion. But the booth was not enough because the ladies knew that their purpose was to be a place for people to connect, to make friends, to talk over life,& to be encouraged. After some serious praying and a great leap of faith, Rose Buds opened in August of 2006. The ladies still make pillows and other items. They host a Scrabble/Mahjong day on Wednesdays---with snacks and coffee. People are always popping in to visit and chat. Kids are always welcomed. The whole business view is that God leads and they follow. They now have a number of local artisans included with their vintage finds. Through time, clothing and jewelery have become their forte. They travel fairly extensively to add to their furniture, clothing, jewelery, photo and art collection. Both Deedee and Rhonda's kids are into and entering the teen years now. On a good day you may find their eldest sons keeping shop for them. But no matter who is there, the welcome mat is always out and you are always a treasured visitor. Come see us!
It's easier said than done....saying good-bye, I mean. I have spent much time in this building these last three years. And I have loved all of those moments. I mean, it's like this place of my own. My own identity within a large family. A place where I can shine and learn and grow. I will miss it much. It has been a huge part of my life. Something new will come. I can't wait to share it with you! Have a good journey of your own and we will keep in contact. Thanks for walking the road with us!!!
